What’s on *YOUR* workbench?

I have this old knockoff FF enclosure that I bought at the pawn shop like 30 something years ago for $10. I thought it would be fun to repurpose the enclosure and build a new fuzz in it.

But then I thought “I better check what this is to make sure it’s not actually worth something.” For whatever reason I have never done this.

So it turns out this thing might actually be valuable. It looks just like these guyatones on reverb marked at like $500(!)

So I guess I’ll pause on that idea!

So how's it sound?

The last time I used it was when I got it. The pots were quite scratchy, but the fuzz seemed fine.

I don’t think my teenage self appreciated fuzz back then. I was all about punishing a pair of el84s for distorted sounds, sometimes with a vintage reissue RAT.

I’ll have to get back to you on that, now that I can appreciate things like fuzz. Just had knee surgery yesterday. My wife grabbed me the pedal out of my things to check it out, just need her to bring me a guitar and a 9v battery.

Today is less about what’s on my workbench, and more what isn’t on it. Finally making some real progress on getting things reorganized and into a useable state. No more piles of empty Taya’s baggies and random loose hardware everywhere. I wanna actually get something built this week.
Ugh! I feel ya! Been arguing with m'sef to clean up my bench too.

I had been despairing about how low I was on a bunch of basic supplies. Resistors, caps, etc. Especially when the Canadian dollar has been terrible and Tayda's duty free shipping is still ~$20 for every $100 of stuff. I organized my work space (aka took everything out of the bin I haphazardly throw all my shit in) and learned that I wasn't low on anything really, just forgetful and scattered.

Long-winded way of agreeing that cleaning your work space is useful.

I have a never ending pile of "need to measure and put up" bags of acquisitions on the corner of my bench. Sometimes 2 corners. I told my wife that if I die in a sudden act of gravity or inertia, sell my components for no less than $2k.
*Stare ensued*
"It's worth at least twice that but they'll lowball you..."

This just arrived! This was made back when I was still cutting out enclosures by hand!

I had sent it out to @jjjimi84 for him to do some artwork on it and man did he knock it out of the park! He had 100% creative freedom when choosing the graphic and design, and to make it pop even more he even added a clear coated/epoxy layer over the graphic so as to preserve it as long as possible! 🙌😎

Thank you Dan for doing this one of a kind project with me! Now I just need populate it and I will do a build report for sure!
