Finished Vero board insulation

Hey everybody,

Dunno if this has been asked and answered in here before but what do you guys recommend for insulating the back of the Vero board when you throw it in the enclosure? I've just been using electrical tape but it looks ugly.

Happy Friday everyone

I have done some self-adhesive velcro cut 2mm larger than the veroboard and dabbed some superglue on the edges and backside in the middle.
Ditto on the back of the pots (plastic cover installed) so it keeps the board secure.
Hook side on the board, loop side on the plastic pot covers.
Works fine, but a pain in the butt if at some point I like to modify the board 😅

i usually just make a small shallow cardboard tray / box thing for the board to sit in.

just grab a piece of thick card, like from a cereal box or whatever, cut to size, cut some tabs, and then super glue it into shape.
has worked well for my vero builds.

You enclose the entire board into it or just like a shallow tray type deal?

yes.

here’s an example:

I've never found the need to use insulation on the back of Vero. Just use pot condoms. In pedals where space doesn't permit pot condoms I use some gaffa tape across the backs of the pots. Gaffa tape across the back of the board would work too, and it's easy enough to remove.

Pizza-topper-box-stoppers with the legs nipped off, attached with some Sugru or hot glue.

That's what I used in my modded BYOC Flanger. I'll try to rustle up a pic later, about to take the Doggoh to the vet, just a regular checkup.

Most people who own pedals that I built don't realize they contain a couple inches of the Pabst Blue Ribbon logo inside.

Not Heineken, then, Frank?

I use Nomex sheet or fish paper for my modular PCBs with offboard pots and switches. Generally I do origami boxes and then use velco, dual lock, or double stick gel or foam to secure the box to the enclosure. The way I do it often allows doing mods without even removing the board or pots from the enclosure, FWIW.

Tbh with the latest one I just ran the footswitch wires over the board so they're insulated from the back. The pot wires (and components) handle them not touching anything on the front.

And yes, the board is the wrong side around compared to normal, that's just how it went ok, don't judge me.
