CONTEST Hey Buddy, Built Anything Lately?

CONTEST
Barber gain changer on veroboard with some twists on the original.
1590bb enclosure on the side with top jacks/ gain switching by footswitch
Interesting, this circuit is great! I'm curious, how are you handling switch pop and volume difference when the gain footswitch is engaged?

There's DC voltage across that switch because it's switching the voltage reference. I've built a couple of these (for personal use) and always dismissed using a footswitch for these reasons.

My first attempt at diptrace, theres a few things i needed to change after getting the right font downloaded etc. But here is my 73 rams head gilmour with switches for scooped, flat and boosted mids. As well as 4148s/red leds/no diodes for clipping.

I forgot to add my ground holes for the jacks to the ground net so i had to kind of make it work. Otherwise works/sounds awesome.

It's great to see all these builds! Unfortunately, I haven't built anything very recently, but this is my last finished build from back in April. Based on Dylan159's Chewborg Envelope Filter. It's a take on the Mu-Tron III envelope filter that uses MOSFETs in place of opto-couplers. I goofed a little on the Tayda drill template and on the knob sizes (for the top two knobs).

It's a very fun pedal to play after you get things dialed in just right. It was also my first attempt at designing a project for stacked boards in a 125B. It was a tight build, but very satisfying when I fired it up for the first time and had no issues. This one also features an I/O board I designed with a modified version of Chuck D. Bones' 555 relay bypass.

Full build report with much more detail is here: https://forum.pedalpcb.com/threads/mos-tron-envelope-filter-dylan159s-chewborg.21961/

I have a few new things in the pipeline, but it may be a little bit before they're featured in the build reports section.

My last build was a Duocast in June. I thought I'd have more since then, but summer slows me down, as my weekends get filled with other plans. Also I spent some time tweaking prior builds instead of building new ones. I do have two new ones populated and ready to be boxed, but haven't got around to it.

Here's a pic:

A build report for this Duocast can be found here: https://forum.pedalpcb.com/threads/duocast.22710/

So as to not repeat myself, I'll point out some things not in the build report:

Why did I build this when I wasn't really wanting/planning a Duocast ? Well, I had an extra PNP Germanium, and I had an extra 1590BB2. The 1590BB2 came because I had intended to use it for DeadEndFx Eva. However I couldn't make it fit, so I ended up using JB Weld to fill the holes and start over. I sprayed it with blue Rust-oleum.

Also, in my build report I said I thought it fattened up my tone, but on subsequent playing, I think it's pretty bright, so I'm not sure anymore. Although I suppose I haven't played it enough to make a proper evaluation. Like many builds, I moved on.

Hahahaaaa Gaaaaarryy?!

GARY!

MBP Splunker. 2 transistor silicon fuzz into PT2399 delay/echo. Repeats (clones) like Gary, and is distorted (violent) like Gary. So it's GARY!

Like Brian intended, the array on controls is great and being a fuzz, extending the delay time isn't an issue. Opted for a vintage 2N3904 and 2N3565 in the fuzz side instead of the regular BC109. Haven't ever tried an SE1002 in anything…

Looking at where I have it, the Fuzz is nearly dimed, delay at 11 o'clock, dwell at 2:30, echo at 3, low at 1, squish at 2:30. That's about where I like it, and cut back on the dwell when I need. Sounds better than any other 2-transitor fuzz I've built.

Only complaint is side jacks 😜 but that's personal preference, not really a technical fault. Brian's been at this a while. Haven't had a single project fail that wasn't builder error.

Awhile ago I unearthed some recordings me and my old roommate did. The songs were terrible but the guitar tone was awesome. I realized I needed a one knob TS-Rat combo. Thus, the Scrat. It’s from a TS-7 schematic (the pedal I had at the time) in hot mode. Being a prototype I used trimmers for everything but the Rat volume as the one exterior pot. Dirt fixed at max. Next revision is going to be everything at 10 but the tone controls, and I fucked up a ground island and had to hack it 😂. Not a pedal for people who care about noise floor and feedback.

Needed a win after the last few I’ve built have all have had issues.. Decided to start and follow all the way to the end today on a silismile fuzz… Made it a quick simple build and finished the entire pedal enclosure and all in under 45 minutes… Fired right up and biased by ear… Short and sweet build and it felt good to have something work right outta the gate…

I haven't built anything recently. This BYOC Echo Royal got built last October. I at least thought it was this year, but the image dates told me different. It's OK, but it doesn't work as expected, but it does work. I just don't have the best luck with BYOC. Maybe I'll troubleshoot after the VFE is done.

Since my 9yo seems to really be getting into guitar, it will probably end up being his. He displays echolalia and his favorite color is orange, so that is why this here delay pedal is this color.

Life’s been so busy that I really haven’t had much time or energy for building for like months at this point, but I did recently want to build something transparent-ish-but-with-a-pleasing-character-and-some-EQ-sweetening for a friend. “Northman” = based on Nordland ODR-C, king of the transparent-ish-but-with-a-pleasing-character-and-some-EQ-sweetening circuits.
