Reference test track?

Hi fellow solder sniffers,
this might be an old topic but in most forums it just disappears.
Should we have a reference di signal/track to compare pedals?
To get something like this guy does with his amp comparisons https://youtube.com/@sonicdrivestudio

I suck at playing and so do others who upload videos for diy pedals. Don’t get me wrong I really appreciate it when someone uploads a pedal video and I really love it when when someone puts their heart into these videos. But very often they just don’t show what the pedal is capable of because of all the noodling or walls of noise.
On the other hand forum members who are to shy to show off their skills could show off their pedals without fear.
Maybe genre related tracks?
What do you guys think?

Something one can download and run through my pedal to compare to another guys video.
There are clean di tracks out there but they are rare and maybe not intended to put on youtube.

Not a bad idea.
1)everyone would need a way to reamp and DI/record. While many here can record, not all can DI
1b) Not everyone has the same amp. To eliminate that, need to DI. But then, pedals can sound bad without an amp. You could emulate, but need everyone to use the same emu and settings. They still have different guitars.
2)most are clones of existing pedals and have YouTube demos.
3)YouTube compression.

I know the amp/emulator isn't a deal breaker but if your goal is comparison vs other pedals, you need a steady baseline.

I think it would be easier for an individual to do, or a small group of members to all get on the same page. Or @Robert since he has them all already.

Hmm.

Honestly, this is a hard one to pull off.

Using a reference recording will eliminate one variable. There are others that are gonna be difficult to get around...namely, what you've got after the pedal.

Honestly, even if we could get it standardized, that doesn't mean that it would sound the same on your rig, or with you playing through it.

As the GCJ reddit is fond of reminding us: toan is in the balls.

Honestly, if I'm interested in a pedal I typically go and check out the existing demos on YouTube.

I'm certainly planning on making some demo tracks of my builds once I get my studio back to functioning, but I also use a Fractal FM9. Which if you can't squeeze awesome toans out of, you prolly need to spend more time with the manual.
