Another order from Adafruit incoming. I've got it in my head to make an LDR matcher. It's not complicated to do it manually, but the machine will do it MUCH faster.
RP2040 microcontroller, MCP4725 DAC for precise output test voltage, MCP3008 ADC to simultaneously read the 6 voltages from the test LDRs, a shift register to light up LEDs to indicate matching LDRs and an I2C display to show the exact readings for each one.

New one and only. Kinda what I would imagine 70s Fender wide-range humbuckers to be: lots of chime and sustain, but also output. Brash on the bridge, articulate and clear on the neck. Took me forever to get an even slightly different-sounding middle. Push-pull volume pots split into twangy single coils. And theoretically many different tonal combinations in middle selector, but not distinct enough for me to be excited about.
I dig the thicc, slightly-off SG look. I like the LTD offset aesthetics better, but this one is too solid and versatile a guitar. Compensatedbridge stop tail, open gear tuners, neck is verging on shredder thin, but still somehow feels substantial. Light, comfortable, and well balanced. The color is much more purple in person. It's really nice looking.

What's the neck profile like? Is it a typical guild "D" shape? or a C shape?

Coworker bought this for $20 from a homeless man and dropped it on my desk this morning. I had never really heard of these but it seems like a cool unit for what it is. I would never buy one but I'm curious how it sounds.

These particular tubes are from eBay but theres several sources I use. There’s some reliable sellers on eBay that use Amplitrex, Maxi-Matcher combined with TV-7 testers. I learned who to trust by getting my tubes tested at Tube Depot because they’re only 30 minutes away from me and charge just $2 a tube. I’ve been very fortunate on some gambles as well but I never pay any more than a new production tube. I need to quit buying them but it’s addictive lol. Pretty soon I’m gonna start having some re-tested with results from Tube Depot and start listing them for sale myself. I keep saying that lol.

Part of me is jelly, but then I remind myself I am not a vacuum tube collector (or a Soviet germanium transistor collector lol).
I do have a small inventory so I can roll for specific amps or preamps. I’m hoping after I finish my queue (two amps, one preamp) and prospective projects (herzog, soldano surfbox, Jose preamp) I can put my vacuum tube projects to bed for a bit. I need to make some music!
Anyway, such a lovely collection!!!
