Arachnid V2

OK I can get a fuzzface working but that is about it. Built an Arachnid and only has clean signal. LED works but I put the 8 position switch in the wrong side and had to replace it. That is when I lost faith in my build. On the hot little L78L33 I am only getting 1+ Volts? Also I soldered in the FV-1, I was happy with that but....Any suggestions on what to look for would be appreciated.

I took a picture of the installation is it wrong?
That dot on the corner is meant to indicate pin 1. The PCB also has a notch in the silkscreen to show which way is up, so yeah, yours needs to be flipped the the way, unfortunately.

Unrelated, but any reason you've got some parts floating off the board like that (the diode and at least one resistor)? Seems like potential for shorting out if you're not careful

Thanks P.
Yes, a couple parts didn't want to sit flat and just left them but they are in. It is going to be tuff to get the chip out and back in but that is what I'll have to try.

I have a cheap hot air station and so to remove a chip like that I would personally use that as I have the tool. If you don't then solder a piece of copper wire to all the pins down one side and then over and down the other side. Then you will be able to use a soldering iron to melt the solder on all the pins at the same time just by moving it around a bit. Then use tweezers to pick up the chip. You will have a big mess of solder and you will need braid to clean it all up.
