Local H is killer
They sure are. Another great 90s band that got lost in the corporate shuffle of labels being bought and sold. They should have been bigger than they were. It was always crazy to me how a two piece could sound so massive.Local H is killer
A few decades ago my old band played a show with HEALTH at an abandoned icehouse turned diy venue for like 40 people. It totally caught me off guard a few years back when someone brought them up- I had no idea they became any more popular.Saw HEALTH and Carpenter Brut a few days ago. Good show. Weird crowd.
Nice. They seem to be doing pretty well. sold out the venue(2500-3000,maybe more?) on a Wednesday in Nashville.A few decades ago my old band played a show with HEALTH at an abandoned icehouse turned diy venue for like 40 people. You've got excellent taste, my friend.Past:
- Gogol Bordello, always a solid show.
- Frank Turner/Descendents. Got to take one of my 7yo twins to his first show. He can't wait for Frank to come around again.
- Laura Jane Grace, Lung, and (fellow western Marylander and Duolingo friend) Black Guy Fawkes in Harrisburg, PA. I don't have any pictures because I was playing merch guy for Black Guy Fawkes. Show was worth every penny and then some.
Was hoping to catch Biffy Clyro the other day, work didn't cooperate.
Future:
- Social Distortion (September)
- Frank Turner's Lost Evenings (4 days in September). Night 1 is the first date on Menzingers/Hot Water Music tour, so pretty stoked. @CroasmunEngineeringLabs, guess I'll see you there.
- Sex Pistols (September, rescheduled from last year)
Evergreen:
My buddy Jason Teach, who plays locally every weekend. The kids love going to see him, so he's always on the schedule.
Thanks. You've got excellent taste, my friend.
Without a doubt. I love NOBRO. First saw them at Lost Evenings in Toronto in 2024. If I remember that night well enough, the PA was pretty fucked prior to Frank coming out, but they threw down regardless.Did you catch Nobro w/ Decendents & Frank? We (speaking for myself & my wife) absolutely LOVE them. You can count the number of fucks they give on zero hands.
Ha! That's where we first heard 'em, too! Between them, Dirty Nil, and plugged in Frank it was a hell of a night.Thanks.

As a personal standing order, never miss an opening band. Alsarah and the Nubatones opened for the Violet Femmes a few years ago. I never would have come across them without get to shows early.
Northwest Terror Fest was a good time--checked out some new-to-me bands like Wretched Blessing and Lana Del Rabies, saw some greats for the first time like Innumerable Forms and Barren Path. Worm lived up to the hype, Oranssi Pazuzu and Pig Destroyer were fantastic. The real highlight was Black Breath's reunion, which was a massive celebration.

It was way way better than a Keidis show. He had another dude on stage supporting him on a Fender Coronado mostly playing tasty little background licks with tremolo and reverse delay. Like... the whole time he didn't turn those off. Sounded good though. I enjoyed the unfamiliar tunes just as much as the Soul Coughing material. Unsurprisingly they ended it with "True Dreams of Wichita" which was really nice in this duo format. An old friend and fellow Soul Coughing fan bought me a ticket for Mike Doughty in PDX next week. Not sure how much I enjoy his solo material... that band is 95% about the drummer and bassist for me. I guess I'll find out, should be better than an Anthony Keidis concert.
Had a blast in Boston! My friends went to the NJ show and also had a blast, but they said Newark itself sucked lol...Dope! Saw them on the first US Peel It Back leg, and it was incredible. Really wanted to go to the NJ show, but even though my girlfriend loves NIN, spending Valentines Day in Newark is a tough sell— she said absolutely no way.
