Amp related, Should I check this Craigslist ad out?

I was watching an Uncle Doug amp video and he mentioned these old Hammond organs are good for parts.

Tons of stuff, I'm interested in tubes and transformers for future beginner amp builds etc.

It's about a 3 hour drive though. Worth it?

I think you'd be crazy if you didn't. That looks like my equivalent of a candy store.

Take a few hundred in cash and buy the stuff that'll never be seen again.

The tube amps from those organs alone are worth putting eyes on - I would if I were you
Thanks, I have no amp-building experience so I appreciate a more expert opinion. I was watching transformer videos just last night so I think I can pick out what would be useful. 😅

The PC boards are ultimately no more complicated than some of the pedals we tinker with - be aware that voltage held over in the capacitors of such things CAN be lethal so be very careful. Even a low powered one would make for a decent practice amp.

Thanks, if I go I will definitely not touch anything inside those old amps until properly drained by someone else or until I know for sure how to. No one would find me under all that junk if I die in that warehouse.

why is it I'm having an Austin Powers flashback . . . .

Hot damn, I might drive up from Texas just to stuff a car full of whatever fits, thats amazing! I think I see a short stack Leslie in picture 18, which would make sense considering the amount of hammonds in there, I see the power supplies. Keep an eye out for speaker cones, rack equipment and nice enclosures, maybe throw a few random boxes in and tell us whats inside haha

Get a leslie!
Yeah the more I've poked around the internet the more I see what this guy probably has. I emailed him, waiting to hear back. Crossing my fingers because it's down by Portland which has lot's of people like us guitar hobbyists and builders, so hoping is doesn't get ransacked.

"It's about a 3 hour drive though. Worth it?"

I live in LA and I'm thinking about driving up! (JK, my wife thinks I have too much stuff already)

Good luck! Grab anything with tubes in it. The heavier, the better because all of the value is in the tubes and transformers. Before you cannibalize anything, get back to us with a list of what you got because some of it may be much more valuable intact.

Ya I think I underestimated this goldmine to say the least. I would've never thought to search for "Hammond organs" near me. Those Uncle Doug videos are great btw. I'll be reporting back for sure.

And of course this weekend is the one big snow of the year from Seattle to Portland up to 10 inches down there, so I'll probably have to wait until next weekend.

Uncle Doug is great! (why are they always "Uncle ••••"?) I've actually learnt from and almost understood some of his technical discussions. So many of those "amp guys" on youtube are posers, but Uncle Doug is the real deal. Between him and Chuck I feel I have learnt more in the past 12 months than ever before.

Ok well I drove to Oregon and back yesterday and got some goods I think. You didn't miss much.

"Cheap or free it's gotta go" this guy was not. He wanted $200 for a chassis with transformers and tubes unknown if they were even functioning. Heard him bargaining with a guy over a box of tubes for $500. I found a variac and other testing equipment, but then he wanted to keep it etc... there's lots I'm sure I couldn't even get to.

So I swooped what I could for $150. Heathkit box was just parts. Lot's of IC chips, caps, TO-92 transistors, though not sure of their use I didn't see any j201's yet. I got a lot of organizing to do but I'll put a more complete list up in case anybody wants stuff.
