1n60 w/ Vf @ .86?

I purchased some 1n60’s from a very reputable source a lot of us use and really like and I’m curious if it’s normal to get Vf from .49-.88 from this particular ge diode? I was under the impression that 1n60’s are usually around .26-.30. Why would I get such a higher reading for these?

BTW - this arose while building a couple Irrlicht OD’s (White Light). I was thinking of trying some different diodes like D310’s or OA7’s when I noticed the huge difference in Vf between those two and the 1n60’s I’ve got.

All of mine have been 0.3-0.4v.
Do you have pics of yours?
Where did you get them, there is a certain rare/obsolete parts supplier (not small bear) that has been known to knowingly sell bunk parts. Please include pics
 
That seems rather high at 5mA. There is a silicon Schottky diode with that part number. Is it possible that that is what you have?
 
That seems a bit higher than "normal" at 5mA, but looking at a few 1n60 datasheets, max Vf could be as high as 1v at 5ma. I have no experience with the atlas, but a lot of standard multimeters test at 1-2ma which would likely show up as something closer to the .2-.4 range you're used to.

Is it coated glass? Try scratching some of it off, if it looks like a standard Do7 germanium diode (bigger glass casing, germanium pellet at the cathode end, thin wire between) it's most likely legit. If it's something else or repackaged I'd be skeptical.

You could also test with temperature. If you hold it between your fingers for a minute the Vf should go down a bit.

I don’t want to name the company as they are always amazing, never been burned by them -quite the opposite, they’ve always been top notch. They are US based and a lot of us use them.

The diodes are NOS New Jersey Semiconductor

I think it was the atlas testing at 5mA. Not sure why I didn’t just use my Fluke as usual, just wanted to use the fancy atlas. Anyway, I tested with the DMM as you suggested and got an average of between .28-.30 testing the same bunch. Thank you kindly for the help :)
