Now Playing... What are you Listening to Right Now?

A gift for y'all because if we have to hear xmas music, let it actually sound good.

I found a copy of this once in the used section at the cd store I worked at in college. Best white elephant gift I ever gave.

Been listening to Superwolves.

Fun fact since we're a pedal forum: I liked the phaser tones on the first Superwolf album, and asked Matt Sweeney on Twitter which pedal he used. I was thrilled that he replied. It turns out it was the built-in phaser on the Music Man amp.

I wonder if there's any pedals based on this circuit (or if it is based on a prior pedal)?
this is such a great record. It's soo good. The songs have such familiarity-i keep checking to see if they are classic covers, but it's all originals.
I was tripping out on the phaser. Would be cheesy by anyone else but with these guys is great.

I just pretty recently heard these folks and have really been digging it.

This really reminds me of the Stratford 4, which I feel is worth mentioning because there was discussion of BRMC a while back and as I recall the two bands are somehow connected. Can’t remember how at the moment though. Stratford 4 was a shoegazy kind of band, good stuff.

1990-1996 was the last time music felt exciting, raw and dangerous to me. I miss those days.

Yeah, I’m guessing you and I are around the same age. I question if the music was raw and dangerous, or if we just didn’t know enough about what came before to understand that it wasn’t really that raw we just thought it was back then.

Either way, I agree, I don’t hear a lot that excites me these day, but I also don’t actively seek out new bands these days.

The "Watt from Pedro Show" is a (more or less) daily show that Mike Watt puts out. If you're looking to dig deep in to some eclectic musical tastes it's a good listen and has been going for ages so there's a ton to listen to. It's on Spotify for sure and I think Apple as well.

I was also harmed once at a Rancid show. Not a crowd surfer's steel toe though. Just an old dickhead throwing elbows for kicks.
I saw Circle Jerks in the early 2000's with US Bombs. Man, that US Bombs pit was one of the most physical things I've ever done - and I was playing rugby at the time!

When Circle Jerks were on there was some sack of dicks going backwards in the pit. Keith stopped in the middle of a song and had the guy kicked out and went on a tangent about being a family in here and go ahead and get crazy but to not intentionally hurt anyone or he'll kick you out.

Most punk shows I went to had brutal pits but most everyone always helped others who fell or wanted out.
