Conspiracy to Commit Electronics - Formal Intro

Hi. I’m surprised I don’t see just a generic Butler/Chandler Tube Driver. I mean that’s kinda the OG right? Maybe because they’re available elsewhere. I built one on Vero and they’re pretty rad.

    Another Duo-Vibe

    Like this.

Those are the LEDs. Those rings illuminate when the pedal is engaged.

    Another Duo-Vibe

Built the Duo-Vibe this week. Lots of components. No real problems. Fun to build, with the LDRs, etc. Used lighted 3PDTs. Really happy with the "vintage" aesthetic I did together w my wife. I observe that it's pretty finnicky about power supply -- seems to draw quite a bit of current. Also found...

    Mach 1 / Oxide HYBRID

Love the Lightspeed but wish it had better tone control. So I used Oxide PCB to create a Mach-1 (Greer Lightspeed) but with the tone controls of an Oxide (Ibanez MT-10 Mostortion). A "hybrid". Circuits are close enough so I just used the Mach-1's R&C values everywhere except the power supply...

TUTORIAL What is a Breadboard and Why Do I Need One?

LOL 4 pots. That’s the MDMA (Wampler Euphoria). I was messing with something called the “Warp Control” by Jack Orman / AMZ. http://www.muzique.com/lab/warp.htm Having a test bed like this makes it easy peasy to audition stuff like that. Big 🙏 to BuddytheReow and CDB and all you guys that so...

TUTORIAL What is a Breadboard and Why Do I Need One?

I recently built myself this little rig that suits my needs perfectly. (Using a MAX1044) I've got +9, -9, +4.5 and GND rails ready and waiting. Then rather than have jacks, pots and switches flying in the air, I used some aluminum angle to which I can mount whatever I need wherever I need it...

    MDMA

Finished this up today and I think it's the first one I've ever posted. Not a challenging build - no surprises or issues. I used clear decal "paper" for the lettering. The "Bass" and "Tone" controls on this box are remarkably versatile and they're interactive with the Gain so it's really...

    Gauss Drive

So rookie me figured "I'm sure ChuckD just meant replace D2 & D3 with jumpers. Four diodes (2 series pairs in back-to-back) equals lots of clipping so TWO diodes (back-to-back) should equal less clipping/more headroom, right?" WRONG. I now understand that a pair of diodes in series has twice...

    Gauss Drive

I fully took this idea and ran. Built myself a really nice little breadboard/proto rig and it is SO USEFUL. In fact I'm so proud of it I'm gonna start a separate thread about breadboard setups and post a photo.

    Shrapnel Overdrive - LED footprint?

For fun I wired up a switch to compare and confirmed first hand that there's no audible difference between 3mm and 5mm of the same color.

    Shrapnel Overdrive - LED footprint?

Build doc (rev 3/9/21) says 3mm blue.

    Gauss Drive

Thank you Chuck. Your point is well taken (even though I'm not certain it's one you were trying to make). If a pedal I've just built "doesn't float my boat" then instead of whining about it I should grow a pair, analyze the circuit and mod appropriately. I sometimes forget that entire aspect...

    Amentum boost potential mods

Just built this. Simple, tiny, cheap and easy to build. No reflection on PPCB, but man, I agree this circuit it's H-A-R-S-H-spells-harsh sounding and not too useful in my rig. It's got a "distinct character" (like saying an ugly girl has a "nice personality"). It benefits the neck humbucker I...

    Gauss Drive

Just built this. Easy build, nice layout. Pretty compressed drive sound -- a little mid-honky. Surely better for a Heavy Music player which I ain't. Very similar in sound to the Oxide (Mostortion) but the Oxide "opens up" more at low gain, has a better EQ and stacks better with other pedals...
