I'm not sure how to fix the bass issue but the gain is probably working correctly. This circuit does not produce a lot of overdrive. If you want to get more gain out of it, I'd suggest keeping the volume low and hitting it with a boost :D It reacts well to boosts and breaks up nicely!
Hey sorry to open up this old thread!
I was trying to figure out how to do this and came across your post! I ran into a problem where I snapped off the lever and threaded part and need to replace the switch. Problem is Im not sure how to disassemble/pry it apart it like you did these pictures...
Have been trying to fiddle around with the sounds from it and decided I want to fix the switch! Luckily I did find the rest of the switches so I do have a replacement.
Turns out its not too much bass, just bass hump in the wrong freq. With the brightest setting (the one mine is stuck on) it...
Hey guys :D
I just finished the King Nothing build and it sounds great! I've also built the Particle accelerator and the old two knob version of it before. I think the KN has a more pleasing grit than the old PA and the new PA isnt really meant to have that much gain. The mode switch is real...
I also have 510K lol never remembered to restock 470K. How would 510k vs 422k affect the king nothing circuit? Would I be right to assume the higher resistor value would produce less grit with more volume and less bass/low mids?
I was putting the resistors on the board and realized the build doc doesnt have the 470k resistors. I'm all out of those but I might have enough 422k and 51k to put in series in those spots. Would that be a bad idea considering the sensitivity of these circuits?
To me, turning up the sag makes the drive sound more compressed but also denser. I guess those kinda go hand in hand. When fully CCW it sounds like the clipping is happening more sparsely on mild settings.
I agree with it shining as a stacked pedal. I like running it full CCW with mild gain (3...
I only have one 12ax7 but I got two 12at7s and a 12ay7. Is there a V1 V2 configuration that would get more grit out of the Bassdude with maybe less volume output?
I just watched the most recent TPS video and them talking about diodes made me think: what do we hear clip first usually?
I bet it's varies from circuit to circuit but i'm curious nonetheless! I tend to keep the gain on my pedals below 3 o'clock so this is very interesting to me.
This seems interesting! Having a power amp to use with the other sushibox pedals would be cool. You could have something like particle accelerator -> space heater -> (this thingy). It'd be like a little fender champ : D
