Did you manage to resolve the squeal? I just built a Megalith/Box-of-Rock and it does squeal a bit with high gain and all turned on. Alone with guitar and amp only it is quite fine, so I suspect the circuit is one that prefers to sit early in the chain. The Gain and Boost pots do scratch when...

I managed to swap in a new stronger LED (see this thread). And I think there is some improvement, but I'd still say that the B-side is more subtle and overall it is not a very intense phaser. I could still have errors in mine. Did you manage to get any improvement with your build?

I finally managed to get a more intense yellow LED. Swapping it out worked fine. I thought. Until I plugged it in to test it and strange sounds and smoke began coming out of the box. After some investigation I noticed I had forgotten to cut the legs of the LED and thus fried the 2N4401...
