Fun project. Somewhat easy to maneuver on the board, and the finished project is a useful pedal with varying levels of overdrive. The voice switch is subtle, and the gain switch is aggressive: it seems to go from Klon-like to Murder wasp. The overdrive is able to be dialed in very easily and you...
I swapped in the correct op amp and the 549C and I notice minor discernible differences. Boost similar volume. The toggle however seemed to tamp down the signal at the 25w with the other op amp and transistor. Now the sound seems a bit more even when switching between 25/50/100. It is already...
Cool, things I learned from just jumping in. I used a 2m resistor. There are ways to put resistors together in series or together to get the resistance you need; or order the correct resistors. I think the electrolytic caps 25v is great but I have used 18v and even 10v. Best practice is to use 25v.
Looks like my parts are not going to arrive today to do further testing. I’ll get back to you tomorrow on that transistor. And whether it produces any change.
Note: still waiting on parts but I plugged it in to my Super Reverb and it sounds a lot better. Maybe I was too harsh in my original...
I am a sucker for switches and overdrive. In my opinion the boost on this pedal is somewhat underwhelming. With that said there are a few things I will test tomorrow. I did not have the LM833 op amp (it will be here tomorrow), so I used an NE5532. Also the build docs call for a BC549C transistor...
