On the magnetron is it basically the same as the Mad Professor Blue delay when the depth and speed are on the lowest setting
Yeah it's similar but the filtering of the repeats is a bit different, I think just personal preference. I can see that the R and C values and some of the signal routing is different, but I haven't built the magnetron to compare how different it actually sounds to the Deep Blue.On the magnetron is it basically the same as the Mad Professor Blue delay when the depth and speed are on the lowest setting
On another note - what's the consensus on Tayda PT2399 again...? I still have a few of those, although I'd certainly opt for using ones from Robert. Seems like they're not fakes necessarily, but maybe a bottom of the barrel, crap shoot kinda situation?
Thanks - this is very good to know, and kind of why I ask! They have a lotta grit once you pass a certain threshold, so I figure it can be tough to suss out "good" from "bad"... I assumed the "bad" ones or fakes had a higher noise floor, no matter the settings.I've bought cheap 2399s and I've bought expensive ones. Honestly, I can't hear a difference; they all start to get noisy if you ask more that 150ms of delay from them.
Colors it in what way? I use active pickups in my basses and guitars so I don't hear too much change to the base tone under the modulation. I would assume since the PT2399 has such low memory you would get darker repeats without an emphasis filter in the delay signal only. The Magnetron colors my tone, so I choose the Seabed
