That's correct, you'll have no signal if you do it that way. At minimum you'll need a patch cable between TO PEDALS / FROM PEDALS.... or you could just plug your guitar into the FROM PEDALS jack. You could add a wire between the switched tip lugs (that's the lug on the opposite side) of those...

I didn't personally trace the Fender Blender, but I have traced the Shields Blender and I see something that might be relevant... Want to try an experiment? Looking at the left footswitch on the Blender wiring diagram, swap the yellow and green wires at the PCB.
