Hey man that looks really cool! I haven't been around much but I've been reading. Dealing with family health issues can be all consuming. Yeah I really dig this circuit a lot. I feel like there's all kinds of classic rock tones to be had. It achieves the things I was looking for. It does the...
Cool enclosure! I got sidetracked by finding my mom a retirement community and getting the old log cabin ready for sale, but I need to get back on track and finish this pedal!
Yeah there's two sides to every coin. A lot of people say the less things you solder the better the less connections there are the better. And that is definitely true to some aspect. However as an electrician who is a service technician, I know that serviceability means a lot. I always socket...
Thank you very much. That's what I thought. I sold all the ones I had previously built (like a dummy). I should know better and always keep one so I can stare and compare to see what I've done wrong. I'm just having a hard time figuring out on this one. Everything else is kosher, just doesn't...
So this is about the fifth pendulum I've built and this is the first one that I've had any issues. Basically I would say the voltage does not look right to me between R12 and R11 going to pin 12 on ic2.4. I would imagine it's a voltage divider and I should be seeing about 4.5v, instead it's...
Even though I love the germanium sound, I avoid the search for the germanium transistors. If I can find low gain silicon to take its place, that's the path I'm going to take. That's just me. You can build this circuit with Q2 and Q3 at 100 hfe and it will sound good.
KSY 62B? Interesting!
I...
Oh cool! On the one I built I used bc549c on Q1 and Q4 (flipped around for proper pinout), and some 2N3903 for Q2 and Q3.
Hfe of 70 and 80 approx. I had sc9018 transistors on the breadboard for these two as they were what I had at the time with a low Hfe of around 100. It is slightly easier to...
It is two layers of trace. The pots and components are all on the same side which seemed strange. Come to think of it you're absolutely correct. The hellbender and the page Bender are very similar. Much more so than the BOG is. I noticed after looking at it again, that they use the zero...
When I traced the Hell bender and Page Bender circuits from Deep trip there were several zero ohm resistors that I just omitted from the schematics I drew up of the circuit. Not sure why they were there.
No. Lol. I do not have any Germanium NPN transistors. I just used some 2N3903 low gain silicon for Q2 and Q3. Hfe approx. 68 and 82. Sounded good on the breadboard. C4 is tantalum, but on the breadboard I tried a simple nichicon 2.2uf electrolytic and it worked just fine as well.
Oh yeah...works just like it should. An excellent blend of overdrive and fuzz sound are easily dialed in to your favorite flavors. I know I said it before but with the way the gain/midboost and the fuzz works together it makes single notes sound huge and this is a great circuit for playing...
