Gale Pedal Problem

l built one also but have no output. Everything seems fine until I trace to the LM386. The inputs have sufficient volume (pin 3) but the outputs, pins 7 and 5 have essentially no volume. I confirmed all the solder connections to the socket conduct to all IC pins. Voltage into pin 6 is 9.1 volts.

The Gale schematic is attached. Thanks!

Edit: The PCB photos are uploaded. I have already re-soldered all parts.

Do pins 4 & 8 have continuity to ground? Is either of pins 5 or 7 shorted to ground?

The LM386-1 appears to be misaligned in the socket. It could be a defective chip?

I'm curious as to why pin 8 is grounded.
According to the schematic pins 1& 8 have no connection, while pins 2 & 4 are grounded.
Have a read of the 386 Datasheet as to how pins 1&8 are utilised; GAIN CONTROL: basically 1&8 work together to amplify the signal between
20 and 200 times (26dB–46dB), which is great if you're building a Ruby / Noisy Cricket / Smokey type amp.

If pin 8 is indeed connected to ground, perhaps this is the root of the problem?

Aside from the 386 possible issues: Pin 1 of your PREGAIN doesn't look good on the backside of the PCB, but looks okay on the component side. 🤷‍♂️

I know you're centring on the 386, but... Pics of the bypass/daughterboard?

Once I wired in the daughter board and switched 386s again it worked fine.

Thanks for the help and fast replies.
