Bathtub Reverb - tube-driven digital reverb

I'm a simple man, I like subtle reverb. I don't need to sound like I'm playing in a massive underground cathedral, I just want my reverb to sound like spring reverb. But none of my amps have reverb, so I need something. I came up with this circuit years ago but never really did much with it, so I decided to bring it back.

I'm going to try to get a quick demo put together so you can hear what it sounds like, and I literally have the build doc draft up in another tab right now, but I already have verified boards on hand and ready to go, so they'll be appearing in the website as soon as the build doc is finished.

Here's a couple pics to peek at while you wait.

Now it looks like I have another pedal I haven't built yet, still need the Vampire Slayer, Supersonic and now the Spring Noodle as well.
Its a hard life but someone has to do it :)

Would you be able to tell it’s tube driven seeing that it’s a chip? Is it buffered? My effects loop isn’t buffered and has digital reverb in parallel with loop. Supposedly. Bad Cat Cub 40r. If buffered and sounding like real spring I could use it. Otherwise I was planning on sticking a vampire slayer in there.

When you gonna come out with revised version of the “deep dish” tube compressor? Or allow boards to be sold. I don’t know why I want s tube compressor so bad.

Bathtub has a buffer on the front end and a gainstage on the backend, so it's buffered up front and has a nice output level.

Deep Dish (based on the Effectrorde LA-1A) is an incredibly complicated build and I have no plans to make a DIY project out of it.

Where do you get the Supersonic PCB from? :)
Super sonic is being revised and will be re-released when the revision is complete.

No pushing in on the waiting line, I want the first one when they get back in stock.
I put my hand up for one weeks ago and I find myself checking every second day if they are ready yet.
And yes I do need help, I am addicted to these tube pedals. It's not a bad addiction to have though.
I am hoping the Supersonic might be ready before Xmas but then what will I build next year ????

Just finished up the build doc for the Bathtub Reverb, I'm going to try to get a quick audio demo of it today.

Build Doc - Bathtub Reverb

EDIT: product page is live and boards are available for order now.

Conspiracy to Commit Electronics - Bathtub Reverb
I don't suppose you have any Artwork files for this yet ?
I was going to order some boxes from Tayda soon for some of the other pedals so I might get one made for this as well.
(I ordered the PCB a few minutes ago along with the vampire Slayer)
Thanks Nathan

Oh right, I knew I was forgetting something. I can get the Tayda drill template and some artwork thrown together in the next little bit and get links posted on the website. Thanks for the reminder!

Website isn't working for me, returns a "connection reset" error. Nice project though!!

EDIT: my bad, it was my fucking antivirus.

Great work Nathan!
Looking at the schematic am I right in understanding that this will work fine on Bass guitar?

And another reminder for the artwork and Tayda drill template for the Bathtub Reverb thanks.
I need to order some boxes very soon from Tayda and would like to get this one into the order.
Thanks Nathan

Dang I hate to hear that. I’ve always wanted a tube comp not sure why. I didn’t know I was based on that circuit. I used the LA2A comp alot to beef up the final mix before having mastered. A lot on vocals as well. I’m very tempted to get one of the UA LA2A or 1176 comps.

I mean I posted the schematics for it both on DIYSB and on FSB years ago so anyone is welcome to take a swing at it, but it was a beast of a project to squeeze into a box with SMD, I can't even imagine what a nightmare that would look like with through-hole components.

Good to go.

@vigilante398 hope you didn’t take my comment the wrong way. I understand this takes time and that you have to pick the best for cost and time constraints etc..I appreciate what all you do. I’m by no means advanced enough to do that. I’ll stick with what I have or get one of the UAs or a diamond clone.

Anyone remember Damage Control? I think one or some of the guys started Strymon shortly after. They had HUGE tube pedals. I had the liquid overdrive for a little while. The big blue one. Uses 2 12ax7s and huge transformer but can’t remember how much. It had an optical compressor built in front, I believe, of the 12ax7 boost. I don’t know if the comp was tube powered or not but that thing ripped. Unfortunately it was the size of my pedalboard. Just curious if anyone had tried any of their designs.
