2 footswitches, bypass to dim led for second footswitch

I was fighting for my life trying to come up with a thread title for that, hope it isn’t too confusing

I have built a fuzz face with a regular bypass footswitch on a 4pdt and a pre-gain control that is bypassed by a 3pdt footswitch.

The pre-gain/ channel switch has a 2 color LED to indicate which setting you are on. I would like this to stay lit at all times and use the 4th set of lugs on the bypass footswitch to DIM the LED on the “channel” footswitch.

All so one can see what channel it is set to from across the stage when it’s not on. Trouble is it doesn’t matter which way I wire it, it won’t cooperate. There is another 4.7k resistor on the 4th set of lugs to dim the other LED.

The channel LED works great when the pedal is off. When it is on only one color of the channel LED works. I’ve tried with both common anode and common cathode bi-color LED’s.

Open to all solutions here. Thanks

The board's Switchmaster laying it down once more! <3
So my wife and I were taking the dog out for a late-night walk, chatting away, and I mentioned I was trying to help another forumite with a switch problem and that reminded me of your post and so I mentioned the "Switchmaster"-monicker as well, and she said:

"What? ... Switch-bastard?"

😹

I burst out laughing so hard, I'm sure I woke up all our neighbours.

Posted this here, 'cause I didn't want to pollute the Cursed Build thread; and it's related to this thread.

It's a great idea you've got here, got me thinking this would be funfreq'n'tastic tasty on RATE LEDs, too!
worked like a charm. thanks bud, you're a life saver. and indeed the switch-bastard.

a good idea is only good if someone helps you implement it ;)

rate LED is a solid use case for this. hadn't even crossed my mind. i've previously put a mini toggle to turn it on and off with the pedal. a dimmer solves both problems.

i'll likely do a write-up on the details of the build because it is super nerdy. i'll be sure to credit you for the help
