Finished my latest build, a PedalPCB 'Pipestretcher' (aka a Dinosaural Tubebender) in a rather lovely Viva Magenta enclosure from Tayda.
I had one of these before, built on a Fuzzdog board and for some stupid reason I sold it.
Being a fan of fuzzy-flavoured overdrives this is really right up my street. Its hard to get too excited --- its a fuzzy flavoured overdrive, not exactly groundbreaking --- but it does sound really lovely and to my ears different enough to the usual suspects to be well worth building even for those of us who are bored with dirt pedals. I do think the Tubebender needs to get more love, people...
Simple build, low parts count, no faff with biasing etc.
Pleased with how this turned out, my offboard wiring is getting a lot neater and unlike my last few builds no screwups. I do need to experiment with seeing whether I can get a bigger DC jack to fit with my pedalpcb builds, I hate these skinny crappy lumberg style DC jacks, they feel cheap and nasty.
My only real complaint is about the screw holes on the enclosure from Tayda. The last few things I've build have all had far too much paint inside the screw holes, which has caused a few problems when closing the box up. Its a shame because the paint job itself is great.
For future reference, here's the link to the Tayda drill template I used: click here
