Reverb Preferences

There is only one answer and it is lexicon
Agreed.

You might look into used Lexicon rack units, e.g., the MX200/300/400 are quite good (in my view) and work quite well in the amp's effects loop. There are ~16 different reverb models, and all are highly tweakable. 24-bit, 48kHz, with very good algorithms - which is what DIY can't readily reproduce. You could even use an analog summing preamp, and keep the dry signal original (no A/D or D/A) and only sum in the Lexicon's wet signal, if you're digital averse. My ears honestly can't tell the difference.

etc.

Note added: The MX200 is a budget unit but still quite good, while the MPX500 is even better...

This is why I bought a Daisy Seed, but haven’t tried making anything - I have downloaded some available reverbs, but they aren’t as good as what i can do “ in the box” with my DAW

There's not a lot in stompbox form that will be as good as plugins in your DAW, even less cheap options, and nearly no DIY options (Daisy Seed has potential, we'll get their soon enough). The exceptions are the UA, Eventide, Strymon, and Meris pedals (I am sure I am forgetting a few).

Man I would love a pedal that had LiquidSonics Cinematic Rooms in it!!

Yeah, I’m finishing that one up one of these days. I put in a trim pot for the resistor, so we’ll see what I land on. Also seems that the improved mixer has a bug, so the suggestion is to use the traditional mixer option.

As far as DIY, I like the Spring Reverb FV1 program that’s floating around. It has a pretty nice reverb for my ears and tremolo. I’ve built the Space is Fun by Moonn, and that ok, but too big a footprint for my needs. I think I’ll build the Bathtub by C2CE at some point.

Echoing everyone else, the spring in my Mojotone Princeton is the best!

For commercial, I have a HX One that pretty much covers everything.

Personally I always use VST reverbs. Though the reverbs in the Helix products are very good. But I've never really found a stomp box style verb that I really enjoy.

I made a kit from Weber. I prefer spring reverb and have it always on.

I didn’t even think to mention it earlier, but the reverb built into the UA Dream is very nice. I usually keep it at 2 or 3 and never really notice it, which is kinda my benchmark for “realistic” reverb effects, heh.

I recently picked up a Universal Audio Golden Reverberator and am loving it. It's not cheesy and fake sounding like the belton brick circuits. My ideal spring reverb is the tube driven cap-coupled style like Ampeg uses (Sano also which is where I first heard it) but the UA is so much more versatile and offers more than you could ever think about squeezing out of a spring reverb circuit.
