Cheapest/quickest place to use hex file to order the VFE MCU?

Im in the US. Where are you guys using the hex file to order from?

Microchipdirect says it takes 6 weeks

While we're at it, is the chip required for all VFE builds, or is true bypass relatively simple to do instead?

You can use a regular 3dpt bypass for most of the VFE builds, but there are a few that use the charge pump for extra headroom. The MCU chip is just for the fancy relay switching
 
Is it not a complied hex file? I didn't think we got any code
It's compiled hex.

I think it was a minimum of $60 for programming, on top of whatever the chips cost from Microchipdirect. I will have to dig up what the per chip rate was. I went that route due to number of chips I ordered and over half were SMD.
