Ordering stuff (not through Tayda now)

Since Tayda is dealing with the tarrif issues and their shipping has gotten a bit crazy, ordering a $2 part is $17 in shipping now, I need to order a fresh round of passives (electrolytic caps and film caps mainly).

Is there a good site that people are ordering from that has good quality stuff for a good price and acceptable shipping?

Or are you all still just ordering through tayda still and dealing with the shipping prices?

Also, any specific brands/types you gravitate to? I've found most of my stock is all over the place and I'd like to get consistent with what I order now. So I have a bunch of elec caps that are 10v, some 50v, some 25v, all ordered when I really didn't know what I was looking at. I'd like to just have one type for all the values!

Alot of questions there, but I hope I'm making sense!
 
So I’ve been hitting the right sites outside of Tayda. I just need to do the math to see if the price difference for caps and other passives is comparable compared to ordering from tayda.

I use those other sites to make sure I’m getting legit stuff as far as transistors and ICs

I agree. I still use Tayda but I don't get any semiconductors from them. Mouser gets most of my semiconductor orders, but sometimes availability or qty pricing works out better at Digikey. I did buy a bunch of Germanium diodes and transistors from SOVCOM on eBay (Ukraine), lots of cools stuff - but like all Russian NOS Ge, leaky.
 
I still order from tayda for those components. I just make sure i order a large enough amount to justify the shipping/tariff charges. I do get stuff from mouser as well but you get hit with tariffs there too. I would say it’s a wash in the long run. They are gonna get you one way or another.

I haven’t had any issues with the basic box, film and electros off stompboxparts or PedalPCB. Stompboxparts has some other “audiophile” grade electros but I don’t see a need to use them. I’ve also been trying to use tantalum more. I just bought a mixed kit off either Amazon or eBay I can’t remember. You could search through the plethora of nos and new caps on smallbear If you wish.

Mouser. Always used to be Nichicon electrolytics, Kemet polypro, Wima Polyester, Murata ceramics for through-hole parts. Now mostly ported to Panasonic electros, TDK polyester film, and Kemet SMD MLCCs as needed.
 
Mouser for passives and some semiconductors: Wima box film. Kemet box film for between values, Wurth electrolytics, Yageo 1/4w resistors, most transistors, standard ICs, and most diodes. Stompbox Parts for most enclosures, hard to find transistors, hard to find ICs, and hard to find diodes. I usually get my potentiometers from both Stompbox Parts and Love My Switches. Switches and Knobs from Love My Switches.
 
stompboxparts for pots and mouser for resistors and caps. On mouser, make sure you sort thru them and pick ones that either don't have tariffs or have low tariffs.

The tayda shipping isn't that bad as long as you're not getting powdercoated enclosures from them. I usually make carts in two different vendors and then go with whoever is cheapest or if they're close then who will arrive first.
