Hmm, doesn't sound quite right. It's not a high gain pedal, but it sounds like you're only getting clean boost. You should be getting clipping overdrive with the gain up.

Getting a free radio with your pedal should be seen as a bonus.

I was pleasantly surprised that the 2n5458 I got from them was perfectly in spec. Sample size of 1 though, so can't vouch for all of them.

Change C1 to 1.5N put a 15pf piggyback on R2 (I doubt this changes anything though) R3 to 5.6K (this won't really change sound) C5 to 1.5N use germanium diodes for D1/D2 use C500K for gain pot and A10K for level (you could use A100K for level just fine too) There's no pull down on the PPCB board.

Take a look at the Dingo schematic. It has a pot to blend clipping.

looks like a solder bridge at the top right of the photo, but that could just be the angle you didn't say what's wrong. no sound? some sound but low? whining noise?

The 2nd gain stage of the CC has a fixed gain (all the gain adjustment is made in the first stage). On the deluxe, the Mode basically toggles the gain of the 2nd stage between 3 different settings.

Are you getting a good ground? Check that the inside of the enclosure has continuity with the negative power lug, as well as the ground on the jacks.

Is this a trick question? The AA doesn't have any component changes compared to the CC, other than an added clipping diodes option.

I've always liked the Touch (PPCB Contact). Simple, no frills, 3-knob, slightly tweaked TS. I think I like it because of the LED clipping, which is also the setting I tend to like on other TS's I've played.
