    Trembling Loon help

you need to connect the audio jack grounds up top. I think maybe you have no ground for your audio signal to reference so that may be why nothing happens. Your signal is a difference between the tip and ground, not just a single wire. I want to think on this more on a big screen where I can look...

    Micro XLR Hookups

Much appreciated. Just need to review for any other bits I need and will be sending in an order!

    Trembling Loon help

You are using a breakout for your audio and power jacks? Where is your footswitch connected, do you have a picture that shows all the interconnect wiring? This seems like I may be missing something, but none of the ground connections are showing at the top or bottom of the board. Is that right?

    Project x Parts spreadsheet

I built a similar Excel sheet, with a few different features, I never thought to sum my inventory, though, to see the totals. Turns out I am at 7698 parts and PCBs, but about 1500 are just terminal pins. I have started ordering some SMD parts, and that's going to blow up the count for sure.

DEMO Fuzz Face (PS Fuzz Debate 01)

With my other business (dead espresso machine) out of the way, I am finishing up the pedals that had been waiting for the box-o'-pink goodies that finally arrived from Tayda. First up, my 2nd Phido Sound pedal, a Fuzz Face built on the PedalPCB Twin Face PCB. I completely built out the...

    Micro XLR Hookups

@Robert I found the link you posted elsewhere for the XLR connector (re-linked here in case someone searching finds this first): https://www.taydaelectronics.com/chasis-3-pin-xlr-male-plug-connector-gold-plated.html I was putting together a list to buy, and wanted to check on the sizes on a...

    Beginner confused with BOM

Fair point - some of us may be a little but too, umm, uptight about appearances. As you know, this impacts the toan.

    Beginner confused with BOM

One gotcha on the film capacitors, these can change width as you go to higher values, and in the middle range (approx 0.1 µF) you can find both 2.5 mm and wider. When you look at your PCB, if the capacitor rectangle is about the same width as a resistor, you want a 2.5 mm width capacitor. This...

    Reverb Preferences

This is why I bought a Daisy Seed, but haven’t tried making anything - I have downloaded some available reverbs, but they aren’t as good as what i can do “ in the box” with my DAW

    Help measuring SMD JFETS

oof. I bought a couple of these adc boards (ADS1115) this summer with the idea of building an arduino or raspberry pi transistor tester. This makes me think I need to get going on putting this together and sharing out. My first idea was just building the recording side, since I have a bench...

    Anyone try the gt309 transistors?

I’ve used GT309D/V (lower gain) no problem. it just needs appropriate resistor to set the bias.

Basic Workflow Tips for Building a PedalPCB

After my first build, I switched over to a DC Jack that mounts from the inside for this reason. I am using the Same Sky PJ-064, and there is also the PJ-011, which is slightly larger (but more common). I suspect there is a Lumberg version and the PJ-011 style is ubiquitous on AliExpress...

    PCB mounted controls

I would definitely just go with rear-mounted panel controls. It's typical in a guitar effect pedal to mount the controls on the opposite side of the board from the components. In my experience you don't need to edit any footprints in KiCad, you just need to select the item and in the pop-up...

    Illuminated 3PDT Symbol/Footprint

So the schematic diagram is correct - the LED is not directly connected to the switch and so you can connect it in your circuit however you would like. It looks like you need the footprint for this switch to use in KiCad so that when you start a PCB, it positions the pads for the LED that is...

    Optical tremolo fizz

I have no experience on this circuit, but when I have this sort of problem, I start following a test signal through the circuit. It seems like you are describing clipping noise, which you should see on your scope. I would start at the audio output and establish an input signal that shows me some...

This Week on the Breadboard: BJFe Arctic White Fuzz

Just found this thread, and synchronicity... 1. I was playing around with BJT to J113 last weekend to see how the J113 behaves going into fuzz like distortion. I was totally unaware of this precedent and hadn't started adding in the tone controls, but now I have something to consider. In my...

SOT-23 test sockets and measuring JFETs

In the (more) budget world of testing (perhaps) the FNRIRSi LCR-P1 comes with an SMD adapter that can also be plugged in to a breadboard, if you don't trust the LCR-P1's results for jfets.

Should I expect to pay Tariffs on Tayda Orders?

I am waiting on an order I placed a week ago. The shipping and handling costs jumped up to $38, but I also ordered more enclosures so I expect the weight was higher. Doing the math after reading above, I think that the services (drill and print) may not have been included in the value of my...
