There are a few threads here of people measuring for top mounted jacks on a 1590b. If I remember correctly, Madbean also has some drill templates. Also, there are some PPCB boards that you can squeeze into a 1590b. Some of them you'll need to offboard wire the pots.

Pre-gain, at least in the sense of an input voltage divider, has only 2 settings for me: wide open or a “sweet spot” where I set it and forget it. Personally, I’d go with a switch.

Post some pics of both sides of the board. This is pretty much a Marshall tone stack, so no voltage readings are necessary here. You probably have a bad solder joint or C14 might not be the correct value.

Also, take out C3. If I remember correctly, this part is not needed if using a TL071.

Can you confirm all components are their correct value? Minus the oscillation, does the gain knob work? Sometimes the PCB layouts can be the culprit (not your fault), but let’s rule other pieces out

Nice build. It may be worth your time down the road to fix the wiring. The less wires the "cleaner" it looks. However, once the lid goes on you won't notice the difference!

Where did you get your opamp and Q1 (output buffer)? You could also have some suspect solder joints somewhere on your board. Post some pics of your build (both sides) and we will try to help.

That could just be how the pedal was designed. There is a single gain stage and active baxandall controls, so there really isn't volume to be lost in this circuit. If you need more control over the volume, try changing the pot to A100k instead of a B taper Try switching out the fuzz pot for...

Have you tried just raising the pickup height so the volumes match? The simplest answer could also be the best answer instead of rewiring. Still, rewiring a guitar is pretty fun, lol

Once you understand the basics, the building process then becomes second nature since you'll know what you're looking for. Take your time and ask plenty of questions.

These joints look the most suspect, but it wouldn't hurt reflowing all of them. Trim the leads sticking out just to make it look prettier. I have not checked your component values. Can you confirm they are correct?

Without checking, they might have different pinouts. Should work just fine.
