    Basic schematics question

The modular approach makes sense. Thanks for the replies and book recommendations.

    Basic schematics question

Edit 1/31/2021: This article answered a lot of my confusion: http://diy.smallbearelec.com/HowTos/BreadboardICDist/ICDist.htm Original post: This is really basic I'm sure, and I'm almost embarrassed to ask. I really enjoy trying to understand how the signal is flowing through each circuit I...

    Cardboard box source?

Check out the white indestructo mailers on ULINE. Seem to be pretty well priced. Minimum order of 100 though. https://www.uline.com/BL_1351/White-Indestructo-Mailers

    General Tso LDR/LED combo thoughts

Hmm, those vtl units look pretty slick. I've been doing some recording with the pedal and trying different settings. It's very versatile. I can't imagine it working better than it does currently. Maybe the led/ldr combo isn't that critical? What were the differences you found in your tests...

    General Tso LDR/LED combo thoughts

Ok, I finished the pedal, using red LEDs. It works great, although I wish I could compare it to green LEDs. It sounds quite nice and transparent, but certainly noticeable compression, which varies dramatically throughout the sweep of the sustain knob. SO, in summary, if anyone out there is...

    Workflow for design and ordering

I keep an excel file with an inventory of all my parts. When I order a new pcb, I add a column and filter by the parts in the build docs. Then the spreadsheet calculates which parts I need to order. I build the pedals I have parts for first, and when I've accumulated enough parts to justify...

    General Tso LDR/LED combo thoughts

I'm almost done boxing up a General Tso. While testing components I noticed that the green LEDs I have are very dim. Worried that the cheap green LEDs weren't up to the job I checked the data sheets. I bought the LDRs from Tayda (KE10720), which are a little off spec from what the build docs...

    PedalPCB Pandemic Pedals to date

These are really great. Can you describe your methods and materials for the artwork? I'm trying to graduate from my sharpie. These look so slick!

    Capacitors for General Tso's Compressor

So as long as the value matches it's ok? Cool. Just making sure. As for the LEDs I'm just gonna go for it with the ones I have and see what happens! Thanks

    Capacitors for General Tso's Compressor

Total noob here: I'm getting ready to order a few components to build the General Tso's Compressor. On all the pedals I've built to date (3 to be exact), I've always used box film capacitors where possible. In the build docs for this pedal it shows a larger than usual cap at C2, C3, C10 and...

    SOLVED DOD-FX59 Thrashmaster repair

OK, I removed the old switch. I tested it with my multimeter and it was faulty. I installed the new one I got from Tayda (A-5153), and voila. Pedal works great! I hope this helps somebody in the future who encounters a similar issue. I may still replace some of the caps, but in the meantime...

Not sure if these pics will help you but here they are! Just got some tact switches in the mail. Will solder it up and post results soon.

    SOLVED DOD-FX59 Thrashmaster repair

I'll post some more pics asap, I'm not home until tonight though. Also, regarding the schematic, I've read that there are some errors in it. Although I haven't verified that myself. Apparently DOD wasn't very consistent with their documentation. Maybe someone who is savvy with this sort of...

    SOLVED DOD-FX59 Thrashmaster repair

Thanks for the reply. Doesn't look like any mods have been done, short of a hack job on the 9v snap (I'm definitely replacing it). Looks decently clean inside to me. I'll post some pics.

    SOLVED DOD-FX59 Thrashmaster repair

This is my first post on this forum and I want to start by saying how cool this community is. I'm brand new to building guitar pedals and am excited to get into this cool hobby. Demystifying these devices that have intrigued me for years has been very gratifying! That said, I was wondering if...
