How to add bicolour LED to a two-speed Forum Vibe?

It's easy, just figure out whether you need common anode or common cathode and then wire the LED into the speed footswitch

    Working thru my other projects

SX was one of the only companies that stocked reliable, affordable left handed guitars when I was learning. And they had a great selection of different colors and models. I found this one on the guitar center used website a few years ago, and the date code matched to my original guitar so I...

    Bugg daydream

There are 3 ground solder pads on the board but it's ok to consolidate your grounds in the wiring and only use one or two of the pads. Take your meter and put the neg probe on any main ground and use the pos probe to touch all the pins of each IC except the FV-1 and report back what voltage you...

    Bugg daydream

Your board has a lot of flux on it. Take a real good look at all your connections for any stray solder or wire. For example, this got me the other day

    SOLVED Angry charles not working

Something is wrong with your IC2. Pins 4 and 8 are ok but you should have around 4.5v going into pin 5 of IC2. If you aren't, then check that R8 and R9 are soldered correctly by reflowing them. You could also have an issue with the IC socket or the IC itself

    Reverb Preferences

I'm not big on reverb, I mainly use the spring tank in my amp. I've had both DIY and commercial reverb pedals, and I usually supplement whatever the pedal is with my amp's reverb. I've built the Spirit Box and the Deflector, both of which are okay. I built a Sproing and it's a let down, like...

    Working thru my other projects

I took apart the rear suspension, fuel tank, and brake lines in my BMW so I could remove all the rust back there. I put it back together with brand new everything. It's my winter car and it's getting colder now so I was getting worried the car wouldn't be ready in time for the snow and salt

    Working thru my other projects

I overlapped the copper tape onto the top of the guitar so it would contact the copper backing of the previous pickguard when it was screwed into place. This pickguard doesn't have copper backing like the one I used for the SSS config

    Working thru my other projects

I've been wanting to put this together for a while and I've finally found the time now that my big car project is done. This is my cheap $79 SX strat. It's sentimental to me. A while ago I put a set of Fender Pure Vintage 59 pickups in it, which are not noise cancelling in the in between...

    1/8w resistor confusion

You could use 1/4 W resistors arranged vertically. Use a small screwdriver to standardize the bend for the upper leg. Plus they are easier to install than 1/8W

How do you typically Clean flux from PCB

I use MG no clean solder, so I don't need to clean unless I remove components from the board. If that happens I'll clean it up with Q tips and 91% isopropanol. Scrub the board with a wet Q tip and then pick up any remnant alcohol with a dry one

    circuit modifications in amps

That's how it all is. There's no one source that tells you everything you need to know for this specific thing. If you take a bunch of EE courses they won't be super specific about our range of AC, and if you learn just from guitar courses they won't get into the theory and math behind it. You...

    circuit modifications in amps

The biggest thing that can stop you from discovering new things is being afraid of the unknown. Everyone has different tastes in modifying circuits and will tell you not to do this or not to do that, based on their preferences and experience. The truth is you just have to try things out until...

    First build component sourcing

Using that graph is easy. Scroll thru the list of diodes on the right side until you find the one you need, in this case the 2D503B. Then click it off and on again so you can find its curve on the graph, which will also turn off and on. Then find another diode with a similar curve in the same...

    Enclosure Drilling

I used to use a punch but I found it didn't really make a difference. I just use a step bit that has 1mm increments. I drill all the holes, but only through the first step of the bit. Then I check them all with a straight edge and make sure they are in line with each other and centered. If...

    circuit modifications in amps

Yeah, you have to have some sort of cursory understanding of the building blocks of a circuit in order to make meaningful modifications without it feeling like throwing darts blindfolded. Look up Wampler's course, he has some videos on youtube and his book is online for free download. It's...

Loop switcher for sharing effects loop pedals with multiple amps

It's not bad for the amp. You're probably thinking of what might happen if you unplug a cab from an amp that is on, but this is different
