There appears to be a little unicorn magic with those diodes and it's particular curve..... That being said you could also use some silicon diodes that are readily available as well with .68-.79 FV and be in the same territory of clipping...

Pictures of a build? what exactly are you using to power the effect and do you have it isolated from other effects.. have you tried just using the guitar and only that pedal.... Have you tried different guitar cables and patch cables...Are you using a cheap guitar with single coils standing next...

double check that electro caps that has negatives facing opposite direction.... a lot of the time Roberts layouts have all the negatives facing the same direction... always go with what the silkscreen shows

FYI... I solder with a Hakko 951 @ 380C with 63/37 Kester.. leaded Takes about 1 second to wick in and get out.. .8mm chisel tip

I'm pretty sure I remember Fran talking about the main chip for that pedal was absolute crap and remember He said he had a long vetting process to go through chips to see if they distorted or not...

you could also hit the trannies with the hot glue goo when using sockets to get a little piece of mind.. it's reversible if ever needed.... but yeah... get a cheap tester and test the pinout... then full send with an iron is the way to go

Most of us here are full send.... Build docs here are really just a bill of materials and a drill template.... it's not easy for the beginners at first... What doesn't kill you makes you stronger. Post good clear pictures of your build and we will take a peak at anything obvious and try to help...

it's been going on for years.. not just lately. I bought several boards 4 years ago and every one was a failure in the build without having to hack job wire and jump traces... wasn't worth the trouble.. He doesnt proof the pcbs when they come in and just sends them out to the wild..

... No it's not something most folks would do with a trimmer... We find the sweet spot and move on. Technically pedalpcb doesnt have build docs... really your getting a "bill of materials".. It's a bit of a learning curve for beginners but really forces you to learn some things fast instead of...

sort of.. you could but really the trimmer is there for a fixed resistance point because of tolerances with other parts in the circuit.... technically you could find the sweet spot.. pull the trimmer and measure it's resistance then place a fixed resistor in place....

looking closer I can see several pads that do not have soldering coming through to front... specifically there is a ceramic cap and a diode that almost appear to have no solder on the pads... I suggest a really close inspection and reflow.. Bench mounted magnifying lamp helps me a ton.... It's a...
