Need ideas for an audition spot on my board

I have made a couple of "audition boxes" for this purpose. Goodwood, Vertex, etc make them (and more full-featured ones generally) but they are really pretty simple devices. At the heart of it, it's just an input jack connected to two switched "send/return" jacks that then connect to your...

    Toggle Switch Orientation/Functions/Labeling

Hi all, so maybe a silly question but something that's came up for me a few times...I'm curious how to know how to label toggle switches and/or how to know which direction is doing what. I'll use the Chase Tone Secret Preamp / Clandestine as an example. On the retail version of the pedal, UP...

    PPCB Son of Ben

This is one of those pedals that I always feel like sounds really nice for other people to play. Like whenever I hear someone playing theirs I really dig it. But yeah, hard time getting it to sound nice for me.

What made you a good guitar player?

A few quick things that come to mind: Get in a band somewhere, somehow. I had the good fortune of spending a couple years touring all over the place and can comfortably say nothing advanced my playing quite like that time. Learn your inversions and how to play the same chord(s) in every...

Nobelium - tube bass preamp project

YESSSSSS I’ve been lowkey meaning to ask/beg for something for ages now!!

Sometimes it’s the simple ones… stumped by a simple switch

Ever have a stupid simple project that just gives you fits? I feel silly for even asking about it… but for like a month now on and off I’ve been trying to put together a simple AB switch in a 1590A to be able to swap between two guitars and one output. First one of the LEDs burned up. I took...

Clandestine Preamp - No Charge Pump

Quick question. I’m short one tc1044 charge pump for a build for a friend. I’ve got a clandestine which I know uses one, and have a spare 18v tap on my PSU. Would there be any problem with pulling the charge pump from the clandestine and just plugging it in at 18v? I couldn’t remember if it...

DEMO Clandestine Preamp 2.0 (Chase Tone Secret Preamp) - Demo added

I’m becoming more and more fond of mine. Initially I assumed it’d be placed early in the chain too. When I built the little “audition” loop into mine, the loop’s placed after the pedal output so anything in the loop comes post-preamp since I figured that’s where I’d be trying out new dry...

Opinions needed on knobs for this pedal

Ill be the odd man out… I kinda prefer them in the order they’re posted… the no-chromes first, big chromes second, little chromes third.

Art vs no art for resale

I have kind of found the same. Nice art, mediocre spray job, unlabeled enclosure, straight up bare aluminum… none seems to have a huge impact on resale for me. Of course I'm not in it to make money or whatever but at this point I pretty much only bother with nicer aesthetics when I KNOW its...

Pedals where 18v is *actually* worth it??

That’s more or less been my experience too. Most drives I feel break up nicer at 9v, but tbh for cleaner boosts a lot of the time it seems like 18v either means it just stays WAY cleaner longer… or you just don’t have to turn the gain up quite as much lol. But not really “better” a lot of the time

Pedals where 18v is *actually* worth it??

Obviously it’s a subjective question, but… I see all the time pedals being advertised as “can be run at 18v for added headroom!” And that’s fine and all but in my experience it’s typically either a very subtle difference or - as described - just takes a little longer to break up or etc. So...

An oddly specific take on the Clandestine Preamp (Chase Tone Secret Preamp)

So I am a big fan of the EP-style preamps and the Chase Tone/Clandestine is one of my favorites. It’s more or less an always-on and so that’s played heavily into this build. I wanted to keep the entire top surface real estate open. More on that in a moment… So you’ll see all controls and I/O...

    New project stuff maybe?

I really don’t play much at all that would ever ask for Uberschall gain and frankly doubt I would have much use for…: but I’m still so intrigued by this… 😝

Aion FX Gladiator (King Tone Duellist)

Wrapped up this build a couple days ago… mostly, anyways. I got it assembled and at that moment realized I completely forgot to order some knobs. So I scrounged up some random spares and at least made them symmetrical. To be replaced eventually, but oh well. The finish is kinda crummy too. I...

    frantone copyright strike

It really just kind of depends in my experience. They are a lot stricter about the title than the listing details; even if the listing title gets flagged or edited or whatever* you can say whatever in the listing details and it seems like they don’t care at all. Sometimes you can can list it as...

DEMO Rat Salad (Chicken Wing Audio)

Oh man, I am super into this. I love the stock rat and a handful of variants but at the same time often feel kind of like they’re all often missing a small something…might be the answer here. And I’m a sucker for folded enclosures like that…

    Tayda says what???

I’ve only had one order with the “new” shipping rates but it was WAY faster for me. Typically the cheap option in the past would take approximately 14 days to arrive. The considerably more expensive DHL option for my last order had my stuff to me in 3 business days… (But I am also realizing...

Anyone know how these compare to the tayda ones...

I don’t know if they’re the same as Tayda (never got them from there, surprisingly) but I use these style jacks from LMS all the time and have had very good luck with them. one of my go-to’s to be honest

DEMO AionFX Andromeda Deluxe (Nordland ODR-C)

I’ve not tried the ODR-C yet (on my list) but this has largely been my experience with other pedals’ attempts to “fix” the ODR-1. I find the ODR-1 to be a bit of a one-trick pony but it does that trick very very well and most tweaks I’ve found make it a bit less of a fit for said “trick”. Some...
