    Bring out the shame cube

In the spirit of sharing mistakes... I'm going to guess that I'm not the only person to ever do this, but I do feel like today's screw up was pretty dumb. I've been working on some of the Madbeans bass pedals for a friend and I have a couple in flight. I started populating a board today and...

    [AionFX Spectron] Meatball Mountain

I've had this board mostly populated for a while now, but I haven't settled on the graphics yet so I've just let it sit. Thanks for inspiring me to get off my ass :) Nice job and thanks for sharing.

    Amplifyfun UV printing.

It's a known issue with Inkscape. I have scaled down versions of a few of his templates as SVGs if you'd like them. Though, knowing you it's 1590B and I didn't do that one :)

    Amplifyfun UV printing.

Inkscape is RGB, so if you want to make sure the colors come out the way you want you're going to want to convert it to CMYK. There are differences in the color palettes between the two and sometimes automatic conversion doesn't make the best choice. After exporting as a PDF I used Scribus to...

Schadenfreude wants to tap, tap, tap

I wonder if your "tap tap" is my "tick tick" in the Super Heterodyne Receiver: https://forum.pedalpcb.com/threads/ticking-from-superheterodyne-receiver.11755 Does it sound like this? Mine seems to be coming from IC6 which is a 4046 as well. I'm sure there are a boat load of other reasons...

    Hydra w/ Mods

Well you see, it let's you add "w/ Mods" to your build report :) It gives you a variable clock to over/under clock the FV-1. You can use it to get longer delay if you that's something you desire.

    Hydra w/ Mods

    Inkscape and UV printed.

    Hydra w/ Mods

Nothing ground breaking here, but I did include the FV-1 Clock module as well as the dry mod. For the dry mod I didn't want to have an external switch (mostly because I already had the enclosure printed and random switches on the side totally upset my sense aesthetics. I'm also quite...

    Screw Extractor Pliers

I have a feeling this thread is going to cause me to buy a lot of new tools.

    Dude, that's soooo metal!

I just cut up a cheap 1/4" patch cord that I had, because I was too impatient to wait to buy some. Tayda doesn't have shielded wire. I've seen the wire @MichaelW mentioned pop up a couple times on the forum.

    Dude, that's soooo metal!

A shielded input wire seems to have helped me with this problem (assuming it's the same thing): https://forum.pedalpcb.com/threads/%F0%9F%A4%98tyrian-distortion%F0%9F%A4%98.12788/

    3D printing?

How much is your time worth? Cheaper printers tend to require more tinkering around to get good results. I have a Prusa MK3 and it's about as close to plug and play as you can get.

    🤘Tyrian Distortion🤘

This is a fairly high parts count build so I was putting it off despite totally wanting to share the finished product. I wanted to keep the purple from the original and come up with something appropriately metal for the graphics. UV printing and machining was done by @amplifyfun . When I...

Soldering a component directly into a socket

I tend to just hit them with some hot glue, but I'm also not sending them out into the world to be thrown around, so I can't confirm the reliability of this solution.

    JHS LITTLE BLACK BUFFER(VERO)

The layout diagram is as-if you were looking through the component side. Your components are on the correct side of the board, but your layout and holes look like they are all mirror images of what they should be.

    Restoring Rocket Sockets

For reference: http://peperspedals.blogspot.com/2018/08/release-files.html I didn't know these files existed and stumbled onto the ones on Thingiverse.

    Octagon

Sometimes you just have to embrace the problem 😀 If you ever end up offering printed enclosures, like you mentioned in a different thread I might be up for offering up some designs.

This is my first FV-1 build. I'm not quite sure why I had low expectations, but there are a lot of fun sounds in this thing. Soldering the FV-1 chip was no big deal, I just did it one pin at a time. I initially built it with the FV-1 Clock Module, but when I fired it up it was noisy and had a...
