    Transistor question

I bought the rowin one and it (at least mine) was shitty. Not "tight" and also since Iran it after my boost/od, particularly my "integral preamp" or "dwarven hammer" ), when I palm mute/chug it would actually clamp down on those so almost act like a compressor that was clamping down/farting out...

Muzzle Classic Low underlying noise with high gain

Gotcha so tube, both sides of the switch didn't help, running it in fx loop, im guessing its something in the power amp, maybe the tubes are wearing out, or maybe its just normal noise cant say for sure. But cleaning it up could help if there's any random short from the extra solder sticking...

Muzzle Classic Low underlying noise with high gain

depends on where the noise is coming from for example power amp section if you are running in fx loop, if not in fx loop then of course in the amp itself you should probably clean all the flux off your board, all those pointy solder joints means too much solder and should've should be trimmed...

    engineers, would you trust this?

Would you trust this on the basis of whether you think its actually isolated in the sense of ground loops/hum/isolated output? Or if you think mains is likely to arc and mess it up etc...

Tommy v3 No Signal When Engaged

Guess that leaves checking solder joints, trying another ic, and checking component values/polarity .

Dark Rift Delay - Distortion/Fuzz in Wet Signal

Well I can only see one side of the board so I cant comment on the other. But yeah its best to have it flow all or most of the way through so i'd say you should have put more solder/leave the heat on long enough for it to actually flow through. Which makes me think you have cold/bad solder...

Dark Rift Delay - Distortion/Fuzz in Wet Signal

Though you have checked the solder joints already for bridges, it looks like most of them don't have solder flowing all the way through AKA bad and/or cold connections.

    Muzzle capacitor type question

But oh I forget the name of the post and didn't bookmark but I copied and pasted this part from it, this is basically what you want to follow when choosing capacitors according to chuck I think 470pF and below: silver mica or MLCC. Silver mica is better, especially in the signal path. They are...

    Muzzle capacitor type question

I think I found a couple other things I ordered wrong so I went ahead and ordered the correct ones (according to a post talking about which type of caps are best for which type of values) cuz I didn't want to ever buy another noise gate or make another so I wanted to make sure I made it as good...

Roboto - no sound when engaged

quite a few spots that could use some more solder it seems, at least from the visible side

    Muzzle - Screaming for Vengeance

hey just to make sure you know this pedal works differently from the boss ns2, so you dont use the x 4 cable method you put the top in and out in the fx loop and side in and out just in line (and you can mess with whether its after a compressor/boost/dsistortion etc..

How to avoid drive in the obsidious?

Wire a switch to the blend knob instead of having the pot control it? Also the volume knob only controls the distortion side of it so you might need to make another volume circuit, so in the end that plus your tonestack is basically making another pedal.

How to avoid drive in the obsidious?

the switches are the only thing that changes the tone it is a distortion/overdrive pedal if you want a full on preamp with tone knobs and such id make a different pedal

    Muzzle range switch question

generally if you use it after a boost pedal thats boosting a lot into your amp, set it to high, if not keep it on low

    Nagging Noob Questions

You sound like someone who needs to be told to clean their room. (sorry if thats too rude but your making excuses to clean up so you do) Another good reason is so random little bits of metal (ie clipped leads or metal shavings from the drilled box) don't stick to the flux and short something...

Will we ever see SMD PedalPCBs?

If I was making pedals for people, and I let an oven do all the soldering and checked it after then i'm sure it'd save time, but unless i'm doing that I don't see any pros besides that desoldering would be easier.

Obsidius Preamp .. no working attack and drive

quoting chuck from his first response to my post "1) Read the other posts in this forum. 2) Clean your board with IPA & a toothbrush. 3) Perform a thorough visual inspection of all components and solder joints. Use good lighting and magnification. 3a) For examples of bad solder joints, look at...

Obsidius Preamp .. no working attack and drive

When i built mine i had a bunch of problems. Including a couple of wrong capacitors and one of the capacitors didn't have a solid connection and when i would push the capacitor i figured out that seemed to be the main thing that was making the sound not working right. I think it was the 220nf...
