If you have a multimeter you can check for continuity or sometimes you can look at it and tell which connects to the negative pin on the outside On the lumberg style ones the longer lug is positive

Bit of a mess inside but it's a nice sounding comp. I guess I'm a fan of VCA style compressors. This one seems to be slightly less noisy than the Creamery at similar compression levels. Time will tell if it knocks that one off its pedestal

Cool pedal, easy build. I will say this thing pops like a mf though. It would be unusable in a live scenario as it stands but it's ok for me. Works really well as a tone shaper. This may be a new staple for my board, time will tell

I've built a lot of compressors, and I think it comes down to which style you like best. There's no real way to know that until you try a bunch. My favorite from this site so far is the Creamery. It feels really nice to play and I can't explain exactly why

Random question. If I have an A taper pot wired as a variable resistor, wouldn't swapping lugs 1 and 3 create a C taper pot with the knob turning the opposite way? Or am I thinking about this the wrong way
