    SOLVED Whipped Cream Overdrive Problem

Thanks everyone for the help! I had reversed the transistors yesterday and finally got a signal but as I mentioned above the tone controls did not work. The black SMD was the problem. On my transistor tester it did not register the same as the blue ones (Tayda sourced). Once I replaced the...

    SOLVED Whipped Cream Overdrive Problem

As can be seen, the pcb shows pinouts for thru the hole J201s and based on other successful pedals the only reliable ones I have are the SMD versions. I may try the questionable TTH ones to see what happens.

    SOLVED Whipped Cream Overdrive Problem

R2 is correct. Out of frustration I reversed Q1 and got a good signal through the transformer to Q4. I did the same to all the blue J201s and get signal to the output. The tone pot, color switch, and tone footswitch have no effect. I'm guessing it's a coincidence and need to verify the rest...

    SOLVED Whipped Cream Overdrive Problem

I swapped the breakout boards. The signal drops to almost inaudible after C1. I checked values to that point and are ok.

    SOLVED Whipped Cream Overdrive Problem

Thank you. I knew it had to be something obvious.

    SOLVED Whipped Cream Overdrive Problem

Put this together today but having an issue. When powered on and engaged I get a loud hum. It sounded like an errant ground somewhere. I tested the input by testing with my meter and it is connected to ground. Can't seem to see a reason for it unless I'm missing something obvious. I...

    Help sourcing parts

I also check the build documents before buying a PCB to see how difficult it may be to source some of the parts. If it’s unoptanium or expensive I’ll pass.

    PCB Numbers

Thanks Robert. I was also most likely using a space before the number.

That has never worked before until just now. Thanks!

    PCB Numbers

Is there anyway to look up the name of a pcb by the number on the bottom of the board? I have a few abandoned projects from years ago I may try to resurrect.

    Help sourcing parts

I still order from Tayda. I can get almost everything from one place. But the orders are large. I order at least 20 resistors of one value at a time and it it’s a commonly used value then 50. Some of the places me tioned are quite expensive. Tayda orders take less than a week to reach...

I built a bunch of PCBGM pedals so you don’t have to

The range master is first in the chain. I started part verification and for whatever reason I had put a 68K resistor where a 2.2M should go. Works fine now. I have not yet been able to get a decent Sabbath sound. Just a generic distortion machine so far. Needs a bit more fiddling and try...

    DEFX Pretty Tears

I built this last year but does not look as good. I can't believe I got it to work.

I built a bunch of PCBGM pedals so you don’t have to

Sabbatical Deluxe. Combination Sabbra Cadabra and Range Master. The rnage master side works and the Sabbra side passes a signal with no distortion the low resolution build doc makes it almost impossible to figure what parts are what. Both the schematic and the board layout. Never, ever again.

    Dead Air Studios Builds

Just bought a Chaos Drive at the Baltimore Pedal Show. Sound fantastic through both my amps playing a Silver Sky. Les Paul is next.

Ic1. The pedal still does not sound that good as there must be other issues I haven't looked for yet.

    A BASIC QUESTION

Actually, at the end, AI had the only solution that removed the buzzing. It was a long road that also showed its limitations. It can analyze small snippets of a circuit rarely wellbeing not the whole thing.

    A BASIC QUESTION

Thanks. It's worst with a guitar. A test tone isn't too bad. I'll give the 100u a try. The buzzing stopped with the .1 cap from pin 3 to ground. I'm not thrilled with the sound so making some changes can't hurt. Just a note, chatgpt kept referring to VREF all along and once I asked the...
