Even-order harmonics make for a richer tone. Also more harmonic variation as the note decays.

I recommend Si for D1 and Ge or Schottky for D2.

Mode 4 allows Q2 to be biased at or near saturation. The FUZZ pot not only varies the gain. it also varies the bias.

No. I'm just saying that visual inspection of everything inside the box, including both sides of the board, under magnification, has a very high probability of finding the problem. One bad solder joint, or one tiny piece of debris is all it takes.

I'm still tweaking component values on the Rat Sorbet. But it's close.

He wanted it tuned to sound like a stock Rat that he provided as his "gold standard." Not all LM308s are created equal, which causes some Rats to sound "better" than others. I had to hand select the LM308 and tweak a few component values.

C1 cuts treble right at the input. Maybe that should be smaller.

I'll have to look into the Big Cheese. I generally do not like the way Fuzz Faces behave when they are biased into a gating mode. But that one may be the exception.
