Yes, I think he used a resistor greater than 200k which is why I went with a 500k trimmer. I would guess that mine is set somewhere around 300k - 350k but i don't know how much benefit I'm getting from that increase. I just stopped messing with it when I was happy.

That's what I had assumed, I never saw anyone mention anything other than the expected transistor matching for superfuzz type circuits. I matched Q4 and Q5 and it fired up right away so I didn't really mess with that trim pot.

One of my earliest builds was the byoc 1590a version of this circuit. It's a great fuzz, mine got dethroned pretty quickly but it's surprisingly decent on bass.
