šŸ”„ SG fever! šŸ”„

Recycling this pick pic of my SG, 'cause I can't find the full pic of it laying seductively on a blanket (posted somewhere here on the forum)...

I want more…

I'm in the middle of an SG journey myself. Bought a 2022 CS on the left, and just recently acquired the regular 2018 on the right. Trying to decide if I want the expensive one or not. Not sure... What a love-hate relationship with these things.

When I pick them up they are the best guitars ever. So fun to play, great vibe, hello upper frets nice to meet you...
When I put them down, I swear to myself I'm gonna sell them. Neck dive, awkward holding position, etc...

The CS is really light at 6 lbs. so it's all neck weight. I put 6 oz in the control cavity and use a wide leather strap and it's all good. But it's still bothersome compared to a Les Paul. Decisions decisions.

But man do I want a white one so bad but they are hard to find.

There's a white Greco with a Bigsby on Reverb. It's yellowed quite a bit. 78 iirc. Not a Gibson but a good copy with real rosewood etc.

Two beauties for sure! How could you spit them up?

G-400 Faded? Is it silly I like the fact it has the Gibson truss cover? Was literally everything I wanted to try in an SG for CHEAP!

but.... Then again now I need to go and spend thousands after getting hooked... Nuts.

Epiphone G-400. Bought 2nd hand, very cheap. Tuned in open E for slide.

There's nothing wrong with the original pickups, they're good sounding AlNiCo humbuckers, but I have some Lace Alumitones installed here, which are great, and work really well in this context.

Back of the headstock: I swapped out the metal windy bits for black plastic, which greatly reduced the neck dive.

Only thing I don't like about it is the headstock shape; Gibson sabotaging the look of the SG so as to make owners want to "upgrade" from the Epi.

My absolute favorite sg model. As a massive George Harrison and Badfinger fanatic, the 61 w/ vibrola has been my dream guitar ever since I played one at day 1 of NAMM 2019 when they were announced. Before that, I had been searching for one of the 2013 ā€œSG originalā€ models for years hoping to get my hands on one. To me, the look and feel of those is just absolute, quintessentially ā€œpower-popā€!
