I see that the Cobbler is a new board. No documentation. How does one know what part to put where? The board as depicted has circuit designations and no part values. I've been dithering as to building something AC-ish or buying outright a known pedal. Yesterday around noon I ordered a Vox Character Plus Liverpool Mop Top. I haven't ruled out building something however! Thanks gents.

The part values are all on the board. I was able to get all the parts from Tayda. There were no difficult parts to source.

So, this circuit is utilizing back-to-back opposing polarity zener diodes as soft clippers? If that's the case, the first set is asymmetrical. The circuit symbols drawn as conventional diodes threw me a curve! Robert's site has so many different circuit boards available I'm absolutely amazed! How does he do it?

I recall the use of Zeners, but do not remember if their use is for the clipping.

Robert placed this link in another thread, but it is for the Cobbler too.
I hand drill my pedals, so I used this option. I also use a 3D printed drill template that helps me drill accurately.

Missed that. Thanks. From my novie point of view, t does look like the zener’s clip.
That's it, the zeners are the clipping diodes

Indeed, many have asked that, "How does he do it?".
It's finally been revealed that he is an escapee from a secret Gov't cloning project; the gov't abducted him when they found out he doesn't sleep so they could study him and make armies and workforces that were ultra-productive.
Once he escaped, though, they already had what they needed. So, as long as he keeps mum about his experience, and doesn't divulge the horde of sleepless clones under his roof, the gov't allows him to continue operating PedalPCB on the hush-hush.
I hand drill also. Unfortunately my drill press has too much slop when the chuck is lowered to actually drill. The bit just can't park itself in the same spot two times in row. Not good for drilling holes in a nice straight row. Darn it!
I knew it. Top secret program(s). Maybe even AI with a robotic arm. Maybe...just maybe.
So, I built two of The Cobblers! They sound just as you said. This is a very rich sounding pedal. But bring the bass all the way down, the tone cut almost all the way up, gain at about 9:00, and season to taste with the treble(about 2:00) and you're in George Harrison territory with early Beatles stuff. If this pedal had a mid control you could get all the way there. Dial in a little more gain and you can hear George pushing things a bit more. This thing makes a LOT of treble! I sent back the Tech 21 Mop Top today. It's A-B switch popped every time you pushed it when actually playing. When idling with everything powered up you couldn't hear any pops when pushing it. I think the Cobbler is a better and richer sounding pedal especially when playing clean. Another win for Robert and all who build this pedal!
