Adding LED’s for looks?

I have an Ungula in an enclosure that I’m doing a Swamp Thing inspired design for. I’d love to be able to add two small red LEDs so Swampy’s eyes will light up when engaged.

How would I go about this? Thanks!

You can use the led pads on the pcb and wire the 2 LEDs in series (see pic). Wire up the RLED and the footswitch like normal. You can adjust RLED for the desired brightness.

Another idea: this circuit uses red leds as clipping diodes, so they should flicker when you play notes with the gain turned up. You could use two of those as the eyes and have a separate on/off led. I don’t know how bright those LEDs get in this circuit.

So you want the red eye ones to be on when the pedal is turned on in addition to the indicator led that’s already installed? In that case the easiest would be to snip the “sw” wire and wire your red leds in series between the pcb and footswitch. Orientation is from pcb to A1 to K1 to A2 to K2 to the footswitch (1 and 2 being your 2 red leds). Now all three will be in series.

Your bypass led will be dimmer due to the two reds in series, so you can lower the value of RLED.

Alternatively, you could wire the red leds indepentantly of the indicator led, with an offboard resistor From the power jack for the reds. You’ll need to resolder onto the ftsw lug, so it might be trickier that way.
