Ads… so tempting

I just bought a set of JJ 6V6's as a back up set. They're my favorite 6V6 in that they sound a bit more like a 6L6's to me.
Of course I totally responded to a amplifiedparts mailer "BACK IN STOCK - GET THEM NOW!" email ad......I'm so predictable.....

I like JJs but I had a dream not long ago that I chanced upon a huge stash of NOS RCA and GEC tubes - all in types that I use, such as 6V6, 12AX7, 12AY7. But best of all were the Mullard EL34s I found. And then I woke up, gutted!

What happens to us that we start dreaming bloody tubes?? Anyway, I played my latest 5E3 Deluxe today which uses all JJ tubes (except a lovely old RCA 5Y3 rectifier, which will last as long as the amp) and it sounded pretty darn nice. So I can make do. 🤪

Well I would normally say "for CURRENT PRODUCTION tubes, I tend to like JJ's......" but wtf is current production anymore is anyone's guess. I did splurge on a Bugle Boy 12AX7 in preamp socket #1 on my Revv amp. I can hear a difference....but then I use PIO caps in my guitars....soooo.......
