Bu bu b butt, I coulda sworn Andy said in the video it was a JPEG Boost! Rillay rillay, I did.
Then I listened to it again and he said JFET, so it must be true.

It's funny you say that, because yesterday I KNEW I read JFET somewhere but then couldn't find it.... So I just hunted it down.

Reverb does say JFET:
"By-Tor also features an onboard boost section—a JFET-based gain stage, which responds similarly to that of a tube amp's."

But the Lerxst product page says MOSFET:
"To achieve the touch and feel of a tube amplifier, the boost section of the By-Tor is a MOSFET based gain stage."

Regardless, this solder joint does look a bit "Rushed" ...

After you’re done tracing it, let me know if you plan on offloading it (or even if it dies in the name of tracing/research, if you decide to sell the signed pass that it came with).
Not sure if it’ll be in my budget at the time, but just incase I can, I’d like to put my hat in the ring.

OK, I'm convinced that whoever wrote the description of this pedal on Reverb knows nothing about the circuit...

Ignoring the MOSFET or JFET thing for a minute, the description on Reverb says:

"To achieve the touch and feel of a tube amplifier, the boost section of the By-Tor is a JFET based gain stage with LED clipping. JFETs paired with the LED's respond in a very similar way to a tube’s gain stage. "

Now I'll admit, pictures can be deceiving.... but the LEDs are in the Drive section, not the Boost section...

Someone is watching... They've updated the Lerxst Amplification page to say JFET.

I just noticed the part where Andy alludes to more Lerxst pedals in the future. I’m guessing a MPF-1 clone and/or PS-1A soundailke may be somewhere in the pipeline

RAW boosts are the best. I’d take a PNG boost over a JPEG boost too. Never tried a TIFF boost
