Have you experimented with red leds vs green leds for the clipping diodes?

Yes, green louder but red sounds smoother. I can only hear the difference when amp is loud.

Seems like the forward voltage of Green LEDs is 3.3V instead of the classic 1.7-1.8 for "standard" diodes or Red Leds. That would explain the "louder".
