Audio probe - power noise?

Hey all -

In process of troubleshooting a war scythe pedal, lookin for noise. In the process made an audio probe to try and find the issue. As i was playing with it, had the black set to ground touched the hot lead to the power in. Holy cow that high pitch squeal was loud. Is that normal? Should that much noise be coming in from the dc in?

Dumb question here but, do you have a decoupling capacitor on your hot lead?
