Boss CH-1 super chorus

The Boss CH-1 chorus, the original MN3007 version. Possible MN3207 optional chipset jumpers. PCBGM has a board but who knows when it will be available and if it will function without issues. Unlike other chorus pedals this has an EQ knob and an effect knob which is a sort of blend. Nice pedal and had one in the 90s. A diy version would be awesome. Service manual with schematic.

Bumping an older one.
Very much need one of these, without the boss buffer madness.
Don't we all have some early the Cure songs to get around to?

it's honestly not that much different to the already available CE-2.

only difference is, CH-1 has:
1) tone control on the wet signal (+ buffer/recovery stage)
2) 39K + 250KC pot for wet signal level control to replace the fixed 47K mixer - technically, this one could be retrofitted.

if you want to play the cure, the CE-2 will get you there.

I've played the ce2 and the ch-1(had a ch-1 but... 21yo finances)
That tone control wasn't a small difference to me at the time, 18 years ago.
The Cure but was a joke *but* the ce2 can't do the P*rn*graphy record sounds.
It's kinda like debating TSs I guess
It's just enough to maybe be different.

While YOU may feel that way, I'm not sure what your criteria for arriving at that conclusion is based on. They are different enough sounding circuits to warrant a pcb for both. The CH-1 has a stereo out while the CE-2 is mono only. The CH-1 has a mix level while the CE-2 is fixed and will always sound more washed out, especially with dirt. The CH-1 has a tone knob to make it brighter or darker depending on the gear it's used with. But at the end of the day, they don't sound the same, the CH-1 is far superior with high gain... especially in front of gain with all the knobs that the CE-2 lacks.

you’re right, it’s also stereo.

lol of course they’re not the same. i didn’t say that. i said they’re not much different, and pointed out the differences (except for the stereo bit)

don’t worry though, i’m not sure that my silly little opinion is going to have any effect on whether pedalpcb decides to do a board for this or not, so i haven’t crushed your dreams just yet.

and look, i’m actually helping you here, we’re directing more attention to the thread, so maybe it’ll happen sooner now :)

Ditto to this. The CE-1 and CE-2 are great for those lush warm chorus sounds, but the CH-1 is great for that super cheesy over the top chorus sound.

With that in mind… name suggestion:

-Cheesemaker Chorus
or the variant:
-Blessed Cheesemaker
I vote 'SeaAche 1' (phonetically similar to 'C-H-1').
My vote is tentative, depending on whether or not it can fit into a 125B - I don't mind using 9mm pots, if we can get a 4-inline daughter board for them.

I have a newer digital ch-1 and the eq/ tone knob affects the stereo panning I believe.

found a digital one real cheap on reverb, just tried it last night.
interesting how the EQ and E.level (mix) controls make it a lot more versatile than a CE-2.
i like it.
i would totally build a BBD PPCB version. so here, have a free bump.

I know! It's such an underrated effect! It's, by far, my favorite Boss Chorus!

I have the analog version. I’ve been surprised they aren’t more sought after. I had a CE-2 for years, but preferred the CH-1. Preferred it to the CE-1 I had come to think of it. The EQ and mix controls are a great addition

Seconded. I want the cheese. Built a Julia. Built a madbean glam. About to build an arion. So far, nothing has hit the cheese factor I’m looking for.
