BS170 alternative?

Wondering if the 2N7000 is a good alternative to the BS170 for the Acetylene Wampler 30 Something build.

The pinouts are usually opposite, but you can usually get away with subbing one for the other in most pedal circuits

yes, 2n7000 and bs170 are usually interchangeable, but as finebyfine mentioned, you need to install it reversed.

And the 2N7000 is a bit lower powered, which can be a good thing in some circuits.
