Burning boxes

Has anyone ever tried burning a case?
Does the design hold up, or does it need to be cleared?
Does the heat weaken or brittle the aluminum enclosure ?

I just saw a post on Pedalboards of Doom yesterday where someone burned an enclosure. It looked awesome! I will see if I can find it again and message the creator

Really more smoked than burned. I’m really surprised that it seems durable enough to wipe the letter infill without just wiping away. I gotta test this to see how durable i
the finish is. Sitting on top of an open wood fire, without forced air, I doubt it’s hot enough to structurally change the aluminum.

I also do blacksmithing as a hobby. We use coal forges that can get up to above 3000 degrees fahrenheit, so if anyone wants to see a pedal actually burned up feel free to mail it to me.

I was surprised about that too. Did they give it a shot of clear coat before the lettering?

I asked on the Gear Page forum and one person reported that the pedal they received is clear coated. Didn't see that step in the spooky Fairfield video. Love how they documented their process tho.
