Capacitor tolerance

I routinely get my components from Tayda or Small Bear, less often Mouser. I notice that the variance on caps is consistently in the 15-20% range. . . . and I mean CONSISTENTLY. Should I be concerned that the pedal won't perform substantially similar the real deal? Does that concern vary according to the function of the cap. . . a coupling cap as opposed to a filter cap?

Depends what the effect is and what the capacitor is doing with relation to the circuit. What board are you planning on building?

It goes a long way to explaining why no two same circuits will sound alike and why the greats would audition numerous pedals, amps, guitars before finding "the one".
