Carbon Black

Of course. I have it socketed just in case. I was just curious why R6 and not R8. I socketed both to see for myself. Figured I’d also ask.
I didn't want to hijack this thread, so I'll give you the short answer. Lowering R6 increases Q2's collector current, which decreases Q3's collector current, which raises Q3's collector voltage. Increasing R8 or the trimmer lowers Q3's collector voltage, but does not affect the currents in Q2 or Q3 unless we make R8 or the trimmer so large that Q3 saturates. R8 & the trimmer have much more leverage that R6. R6 is good for fine tuning, but the trimmer is much more effective it you want to be able to go from smooth to gated.

Thank you for the detailed answer. I really appreciate that. Best to you and yours!

I really like the aesthetic. Super clean looking build, and luxury components. Ooo la la. Is that a water slide decal?

Edit: I just realized this build was originally posted a few years ago. I apologize for bringing us back to that time in our lives. No one wants to go back to 2020.

It was an acid etch, this is before I had a laser. And I’d go back to 2020, that was the last year life was actually really good oddly enough 😂

It's pretty funny that people will pay extra for CC resistors. I have a shit-ton of them from years gone by. Every one I measure is at least 15% higher that the marked value. They're noisier than CF or MF, less reliable, drift more with temperature and exhibit non-linearity when exposed to high voltage.

Yeah I’m pretty sure these were new production ones with tighter tolerances just made to look old. That pedal sold very quickly 😂
