So, back from a brief road trip (out of town gigs) and had time to finish this off. I'd tested the board beforehand, all functional, so only needed to complete the off-board wiring. Wonder of wonders, silence ensued, both in bypass and engaged.
I replaced what I thought was the issue (a faulty 3PDT stomp switch) but still nothing. I eventually discovered that I'd managed to short the output hot to ground by forgetting to trim the culprit before heat shrinking it. Look before you leap, as they say.
All's well that ends well and after trimming it to the stipulated voltages (as per the schematic), it quacks in very satisfying ways (on both guitar and bass).
If it walks, quacks, and sounds like a duck, it must be so, hence the name, loosely translated as 'box with duck,' with due apologies to Francophones everywhere. Thanks for reading and happy building, y'all.
